In this article we are going to analyze in depth one of the documents which is a tenant notice of intent to vacate or move out.
The following is everything you need to know about the document and everything it pertains;
A tenant notice of intent to vacate or move out is a document that is served to the landlord by a tenant indicating that they want to vacate from a premise or a property. It marks the start of the moving out process and it is very vital in ensuring that the landlord and the tenant maintain a good relationship through the process. The document also signifies the end of the lease period. The tenant needs to indicate the date by which they will have moved out of the premise and this should be stated 30 to 60 days prior to moving out. Any agreements and requirements applicable from the lease agreement valid in this situation should also be factored in.
The name/ address and the contacts of the tenant should also be noted. This is optional but a tenant can choose to cite the reasons for them moving out and any requests or complains should be brought to the attention of the landlord. The tenant should also indicate their preferred method of payment of the deposit and any information regarding the refund of the deposit; how and when it will be refunded; should also be included. Any deductions to be made should also be clearly cited and an inspection of the condition of the premises is mandatory in this case. The landlord should also specify how they want to receive the document i.e via email or even hand delivery with a signed acknowledgement.
It is crucial that both parties keep copies of the signed documents for any future reference. The tenant needs to understand that it is in their best interest that the process should go smoothly and in accordance to the law.
